Training & Methods:
“Every client/student
gets my 110% commitment to their success.
It is important to me that dogs (& their humans) thrive.”
Positive Basic Obedience
Training Stages:
1- I use treats until a dog understands basic obedience requests
2- I wean the dog off of the treat and integrate these requests into their lifestyle to create a habit of listening.
3- Now we practice when your dog is excited and during distractions so you can be assured that your dog can listen when they are excited.

Sometimes feeding time in my home takes a game of musical gates!
Here I have our guests patiently waiting while I feed a small puppy.
Boarding with Me / Happy Puppy Staycation!
For my own clients, I board dogs! all of my dog-training clients are like family!
For others - I will consider boarding if your dog is:
1) dog friendly
2) cat friendly (or)
3) if your dog has never met a cat and has never harmed an animal, I will consider them. Most dogs are fine - even if they have never met a cat.
Your dog becomes our family while they stay.
We don't crate, we use baby gates!
I do offer pick-up/drop-off services at an extra charge for those within @ 1 hour of Hamilton, NJ.

Man-made toys: Balls, Squeak, Tug, Stuffed animals, Homemade Toys—sock with a ball inside, sock with a squeak toy inside. You can also make your own toys! Click here for ideas.
Settling Toys: Natural chews are the best for fulfillment, settling your dog down, and preventing the chewing of wood, walls, and furniture.
Buy a variety of natural chews and try different textures and types. Your dog will relish sinking their teeth into these. Generally, the more stinky the chew is the higher your dog values it, and the longer s/he will settle down to chew it.
On Rawhide
Many people are concerned about Rawhide chews. Investigation into a recent social media viral video warning people about the dangers of Rawhide is UNTRUE.
I have used rawhide with all of my own dogs (German Shepherds, Rottweiler mixes, Pit Bulls.) I also have recommended rawhide for my client’s dogs and everyone gets some when I board at my home. My experience is with hundreds of dogs. This study confirms that rawhide is fully digestible and safe for all dogs. (JAVMA Vol 197, July 15, 1990: Lage, A. et al)
Dogs CHEW and they (eventually) destroy their toys. It’s ok, and expected!
There are many different types of dog toys and chews on the market. Many toys can be safe or dangerous depending on the dog or the situation. Some toys may be fine for supervised play, but you may not want to leave your dog alone with them.
Always listen to your own good sense and follow your instincts. Don’t hesitate to take away a toy or chew that does not feel right to you- especially when it comes apart.
Certain breeds (pug-nosed dogs) may not be able to have some types of toys or chews because of the breed's facial, snout, and teeth deformities, they will choke.
Dr. Chris Bern talks about dog chew safety and gives good advice here. Stay away from anything that is harder than the dog's teeth.
NOT TRUE -- this image (below) is going around with
the warning to not give your dog Rawhide.
This image is from a dog who was given cooked bones, not Rawhide.
